JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa is hosting their most anticipated event of the year, the annual Light Up The Night
celebration on Friday, November 22 at 6:00 p.m. The resort is inviting families, friends, and holiday revelers to the unforgettable evening that will kick off the Hill Country Christmas experiences and reveal the dazzling new holiday attraction—ICE!, featuring the unforgettable theme of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
The festive extravaganza promises to deliver pure magic, beginning with a visit from Santa Claus himself. Santa Claus will lead the crowd in an exciting countdown to illuminate the resort's giant 30-foot tall Christmas Tree and breathtaking holiday light display, setting the stage for a celebratory evening of fun, laughter, and memories for all who attend.
Once thousands of twinkling lights are shining brightly throughout the resort's back lawn, guests will be treated to a first-look at ICE!, the resort's newest attraction, where the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! comes to life in an unbelievable ice sculpture experience. Visitors will feel more holiday cheer taking a thrilling ice tube ride down Snow Flow Mountain at Reindeer Ridge, or enjoy the sounds of Victorian carolers serenading the crowd with timeless holiday tunes. For everyone in San Antonio, these ice-filled experiences will offer a refreshing taste of colder holiday weather, setting the mood for festive Christmas fun.
Tickets are required to join the Light Up The Night celebration
and may be purchased here. With the purchase of a ticket, guests receive access to the tree lighting ceremony, will be among the first to visit ICE!, and can zoom down Snow Flow Mountain. Children aged three and under are admitted for free. The holiday spirit goes further with fifty percent of the proceeds from ticket sales benefiting CHRISTUS Children's, a member of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. CHRISTUS Children's is dedicated to the well-being of children and expectant mothers and families. As the sole hospital in San Antonio—exclusively focused on pediatric and maternal care, they bring healing and new beginnings to families.

Light Up The Night Schedule:
- 6:00 p.m. - Gather on Main Event Lawn for Santa Claus' grand arrival, accompanied by Victorian carolers
- 6:15 p.m. - Santa's Arrival by a horse-drawn sleigh
- 6:30 p.m. - Countdown with Santa to light the Christmas Tree and over 1,000 of twinkling holiday lights on property
- 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - Exclusive preview of ICE! and Snow Flow Mountain at Reindeer Ridge

Opening November 23, 2024, through January 5, 2025, ICE! will bring to life the whimsical world of Who-ville featuring Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Kept at a frosty 9-degrees Fahrenheit, visitors will explore more than two million pounds of ice hand-carved into a winter wonderland including more than 10 immersive scenes, thrilling two-story ice slides, awe-inspiring passageways, and photo-worthy moments the whole family can enjoy.
The resort's Exhibit Ballroom will transform into Reindeer Ridge,
featuring 40,000 square feet of Hill Country Christmas activities. Beloved experiences include Snow Flow Mountain, a multi-lane tubing hill made of real ice; Snowball Build & Blast, an interactive game where guests can make and throw snowballs to score points and boost the power of the snow-making machine; Mrs. Claus' Christmas Traditions hosted by Mrs. Claus which includes a retelling of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas
and a sing-along of holiday carols; Gingerbread Decorating Corner with an opportunity to meet Nutmeg the gingerbread man; Build-A-Bear Workshop®'; and a new holiday scavenger hunt, The Grinch's Wonderful Awful Idea Scavenger Hunt.
Guests can also enjoy holiday shopping, treats at the festive s'mores station, letter writing to Santa, personal visits with Santa himself along with a keepsake photo, and a feast with the Grinch for an entertaining character dining experience with a special appearance by his canine companion Max.
