The Yellow Rose Gala Foundation, a local nonprofit committed to funding research to end multiple sclerosis (MS), will host the Ropin' in the Cure
on Saturday, March 29 at the iconic Longhorn Ballroom. Andrea Reich and Nita Patel are co-chairs for this year's Yellow Rose Gala, with The Scott Burford Family serving as the event's honorary chairs. The late Jane Lombardi will be honored with a special award.
The headliner for the event is country music artist Wynn Williams. The former rodeo cowboy combines the honky-tonk attitude of Brooks & Dunn and the crooning style of Strait, with the excitement of Garth — known for hits like Tornado
and Man What a Woman Does to Me.
Coffey Anderson, star of Netflix's Country Ever After
, is a dynamic singer-songwriter known for songs like Mr. Red White and Blue
and Better Today,
will also take the stage at the Yellow Rose Gala performing his soulful country music.
Tickets are available for the event and proceeds from the Yellow Rose Gala Foundation benefit the National MS Society, which funds the International Progressive MS Alliance and UT Southwestern's Peter O'Donnell Jr. Brain Institute. The foundation's mission is to improve the lives of those affected by MS by funding research aimed at stopping the disease, restoring lost function, and ultimately finding a cure.
This year, the organization will recognize Louis B. Harrell, Jr as the recipient of the Dee Wynne Courage Award. After Hurricane Katrina, Harrell relocated to North Texas where he launched Men of Nehemiah, a residential addiction recovery program for men. Harrell, who has been battling MS, continues to dedicate himself to helping others who are struggling with addiction and health issues.
As one of the top four fundraisers in the United States for the International Progressive MS Alliance, the foundation has contributed more than $6 million to MS research. Its efforts have impacted more than 17,000 people across North Texas and supported over 68,000 Texans, as well as more than one million individuals in the U.S. and millions worldwide who are affected by MS.
The Yellow Rose Gala was established in 1986 by Dee and Jimmy Wynne after Dee was diagnosed with MS. The event has raised more than $6 million for MS research. The couple's children, Fallon Wynne Way and Todd Wynne, continue the tradition with the support of dedicated community leaders and passionate Yellow Rose Gala supporters.
