Enchanted, An Event to Remember

An Event to Remember indeed it will be in February when the Alzheimer's Association Board and Executives launch the first ever gala to help raise funds for this ever-increasing disease and to put the spotlight on supporters. Set for Saturday, February 29th, 2020. at The Hall on Dragon, Enchanted, An Event to Remember will be chaired by Catherine Dickson Weber. Honorary Chairs are Martha and Douglas Hawthorne and feature a menu designed with brain healthy food in mind.

We are excited to add this lovely endeavor to our already established fund-raising efforts, headlined by the annual Walk to End Alzheimer's, says Mark Denzin, Executive Director of the Dallas and Northeast Texas Chapter.

The Hawthorne's bring a history of community service to Enchanted, An Event to Remember. Martha has long worked with the American Heart Association and the Salvation Army. Doug, founding CEO Emeritus of Texas Health Resources, has been named among the 100 Most Influential People in Health Care and was inducted into the Texas Business Hall of Fame in 2014. He has been honored with lifetime achievement awards in both the Fort Worth Business Press Healthcare Heroes and D CEO Excellence in Healthcare programs. He currently serves on the National Board of the March of Dimes and the Advisory Board of the State Fair of Texas and is a member of the Salesmanship Club.

What an honor and a privilege to help the Alzheimer's Association in this small way to bring attention to this terrible disease now touching so many lives, Martha and Doug say in unison.

The Enchanted gala setting is designed by the international award-winning Wilkinson Rhodes to shine the light on this terrible disease and illuminate a path to end it. Artwork from individuals affected by Alzheimer's and related dementia will be showcased, and guests will dine on brain-healthy cuisine prepared by Executive Chef Ponya Habibi from CN Catering.

The Preston of the Park Cities memory care residents are making art pieces to sell at the gala. Resident art will be displayed during the cocktail hour and will sell for $65 each ... relating to the statistic that every 65 seconds someone develops dementia. Art is therapeutic and has a number of benefits for people battling dementia.

The Dallas and Northeast Texas Alzheimer's Association is happy to spotlight this partnership with The Preston of the Park Cities during this inaugural Gala.
