DATE IDEAS | A-MUSE ME
Be the inspirational muse that sparks your partner's creative side. Is your honey artistic? Dramatic? Comedic? Musical? Perhaps well-suited for a circus class?
Be the inspirational muse that sparks your partner's creative side. Is your honey artistic? Dramatic? Comedic? Musical? Or maybe just well-suited for a circus performing class? If so, consider these ideas to get your imagination working.
For the Artistic
Take a self-guided public art walk, tour the Arts District, or ponder the work of famous master artists at museums such as the Kimbell or Modern. On the third Friday of each month, The Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, and The Crow Collection of Asian Art stay open until midnight offering performances, live music, film screenings, tours, and more. To create your very own hands-on masterpiece, visit VETRO Glassblowing Studio & Gallery in Grapevine or bring along a bottle of wine to Pinot's Palette or Painting with a Twist where you can sip vino with friends while working along with a local artist for an evening of creativity and camaraderie. On a more 'romantic' note, (or if your subject matter becomes too explicit for the public classroom), take your 'inspiration' to the bedroom for some self-made risque (but tasteful) boudoir photos or try your hand ... or uh, whatever ... at a set of Body Imprints like those created by Donna Marie.
For the Classically Dramatic
Attend a production by a local performing arts organization at any one of the many theaters in the DFW area. Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth hosts many theater and musical artists each year, and the Dallas Theater Center performs a wide variety of relevant plays at the Wyly Theatre, offering a pay-what-you-can pricing special for the first night of each new show. Check the AT&T Performing Arts Center's website as well for free outdoor concerts, simulcasts, productions, and events; and keep an eye out as The Dallas Opera often recruits supernumeraries (theater 'extras') - who knows, you could appear onstage alongside famous opera stars.
For the Musical
Hear a concert at an area music venue including the Meyersonwhere the Dallas Symphony Orchestra not only presents classical concerts, but also a DSO Presents series which brings in big name performers and a fantastic Pops Series featuring contemporary songs popular with general audiences. To sing your own tune though (and maybe bring back those high school rock band glory days), grab the microphone on karaoke night at a local karaoke bar.
For the Comedic / Offbeat
See a comedy show (or pick up the mic yourself) at one of the area comedy clubs, take a circus performing class, show your appreciation for fine horsemanship and a well-placed joust at Medieval Times, cheer on the clowns at the rodeo, or just get your Pac-Man arcade action on.
At any rate, keep looking, you're sure to find a venue to suit your particular personality type ... no matter how refined or quirky it might be.
