Known as Austin's homegrown holiday tradition for nearly five decades, the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar announces it will be back inside for the first time since 2019 at the Palmer Events Center (900 Barton Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78704) with some exciting new changes for this year's show. Austin's highly beloved art and music festival will take place December 17 - 23 from 11 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. daily. In addition to featuring the most new artists the event has ever had, the event will now be seven days and closed on Christmas Eve. This year's event will include a new layout with a central music stage that can be enjoyed from many angles of the room, allowing art lovers and music fans to shop and dance while sipping on a cocktail from the full bar. Another new feature includes the addition of Hello Trouble Hall, a mobile honky tonk that will be an onsite social gathering spot. Shoppers will now also have the opportunity to purchase merchandise online for the first time at the Armadillo Store and can start snatching up their favorite pieces here. Tickets and this year's music lineup will be available and announced on October 24, 2022. This year's event will offer a cashless box office. Patrons can save time by buying in advance or with credit card payment options onsite. More information about the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar can be found at ArmadilloBazaar.com.
This year's show will allow art lovers to search for art and gifts made by the best and brightest local Austin artists as well as a large selection of award winning national artists that we have spent years discovering, curating and personally selecting by visiting fine art festivals, markets and studios all around the country,
said Anne Johnson, Producer and General Manager. The show offers shoppers a chance to meet each of these talented artists in person. It's like visiting hundreds of art studios and galleries in one place.
With roots in Austin's legendary Armadillo World Headquarters, the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar is one of Austin's longest-running art and music festivals. From its beginning at the Armadillo World Headquarters to its current 44,000 square feet, the event features a stunning display of temporary galleries and shops, full bars, photo ops, local food from Southside Flying Pizza and an intimate stage you can see and hear all over the show. The Armadillo is the home to the National String Off Competition every year, doing our best to keep Austin weird.
I like to describe the event as a premium presentation of premium works by premium artists,
said Bruce Willenzik, Executive Producer. The Armadillo magic continues to reach long-time fans and newcomers alike. With a variety of highly curated artists participating this year, shoppers will have no shortage of one of a kind pieces to choose from as well as an intimate experience with the creator of the work.
Patrons will have the opportunity to learn about artists and their work, make a personal connection with the art, and support the artist community. A full list of this year's artists can be found online at the Artist Gallery here. The show's featured artist this year is Caya Crum, a second-generation Christmas Bazaar artist and also the show's youngest artist created the original art design and additional featured elements seen in the bazaar's advertising. Her work will be featured in the Crum Art booth, in photo ops around the event, and in merchandise at the Armadillo Store. Signed, limited edition prints of her original featured artwork will be available in-person.
Ahead of the October 24 announcement of the show's much anticipated music line-up, which represents the best of Austin, from classics to newcomers, nationally renowned singer-songwriters to GRAMMY-winning acts, fans can start getting pumped up now to see two bands daily, with each act having two full-hour sets. If guests miss the first hour, they can still catch the second hour and see a full show. Organizers have also orchestrated the combination of some special performances that cannot be seen anywhere else. A gallery of previous Armadillo Christmas Bazaar performers can be found here.
Known for bringing out special performances with high quality sound you can't catch anywhere else, the Armadillo stage is an intimate Austin treasure, it's often a draw in itself,
said Armadillo Christmas Bazaar Executive Producer Bruce Willenzik. The combined presentation of premium art and music is unmatched. The event is an excellent introduction for newcomers to first experience Austin's cultural scene.
With over 40,000 attendees expected, the annual event attracts gift buyers, art lovers and music fans.
We are known for our curated collection of art, gifts, and live music in a festive, family friendly, entertaining atmosphere,
said Armadillo Christmas Bazaar Producer and General Manager Anne Johnson. You can find last minute Christmas gifts that come from the heart, new art for your personal collection, have a cocktail, and tap your toes. It's the best way to enjoy Christmas in Austin!
Patrons far and wide are invited to come home to the Armadillo and bring their families and friends.
