The fully-redesigned three-row compact crossover passes the "tap test" with flying saddle tan colors.
You can often tell the quality of a woman's shoes by the sound they make as she walks across tile flooring. Inexpensive caps installed on the lower tips of slender high heels tend to make a tip-tap or click-clack sound, whereas higher-quality heel tips usually create a more commandingly solid clomping sound. I find that the same concept is typically true for automobile interiors, and you can tell a great deal about the quality of interior surfaces by utilizing what I simply refer to as the tap test. Every time I evaluate a new vehicle, I simply tap my fingernails on the dash, center stack, console, door panels, and occasionally even the seats. Cheaper and subpar plastic surfaces tend to create higher, harsher, and less desirable sounds; while the use of higher quality materials, custom woods, and leathery surfaces generally emit lower, richer, sonorous tones.
One way or the other, a suitable application can be found for the entire spectrum of automotive materials; however, it is assumed that the cost of the overall finished product will match the level of quality exhibited by its combined parts. Subsequently, the goal of practically every consumer becomes finding a vehicle in which the more luxurious materials are paired with a less expensive price tag ... and the all-new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander accomplishes just that. With seven different trim option configurations beginning at an MSRP of $26,495, the modern interior design of the new Outlander incorporates elegant textiles such as genuine and semi-aniline leather along with stylish accents like real aluminum surfaces throughout. The artistic selector switches and thicker steering wheel are easy to grasp and feel naturally pleasing to the fingertips, on par with the sturdiness and consistency of the Mitsubishi Touch
dynamic.
Embodying the product concept I-Fu-Do-Do
which is Japanese for authentic and majestic, the cabin has been upgraded and made wider for an increased sense of spaciousness and quality. The Outlander is two inches wider than the previous model, and a lengthened wheelbase gives the result of increased leg space for front occupants by one inch and just slightly more for second-row passengers. The high-quality look and feel is further exemplified by a cabin that is equipped with such amenities as each seat being provided with a smartphone holder.
The design concept of the all-new Mitsubishi Outlander has been dubbed Bold Stride
as the exterior and interior are intended to express a dependable demeanor of driver functionality which is backed by the brand's proven SUV heritage. A linear horizontal axis
runs through the instrument panel in order to enhance the feeling of roominess, while L-shaped illumination makes the door handles easier to operate even in the dark. The center console appears to float from the instrument panel, and the large 9-inch center display screen and 12.3-inch digital driver display in the instrument panel provide a feeling of above-average fittings.
The coordination of refined color combinations for seating surfaces offer an upscale appearance, and the available saddle tan accent color of the SEL model is especially attractive. A two-layer slab urethane and stiff urethane structure provides a soft initial touch as well as an optimized shape to reduce fatigue during long trips. The amount of seat slide has also been increased to provide more leg room and additional flexibility of the space, and both the front-row and second-row seats are equipped with effective seat heaters with three temperature settings to provide even more comfort.
To improve the sounds close to occupants' ears and simultaneously add to the superior feel, sound-insulating film is laminated into the windshield as well as the glass installed in the roll-down windows of both front doors. Rear suspension cross members connected to the body via bushings now reduce noise from the tires, and weather stripping has been strategically added to close unnecessarily windy gaps. The A-pillar garnish shape works to keep out rain water while reducing wind noise, and cabin-generated clamor has been reduced by tuning the resonance of particular areas to minimize the low frequency humming that makes driving tiresome and monotonous. Anti-vibration measures achieved by suppressing vibrations through the steering wheel also work toward minimizing road noise and further improving cabin quietness.
