Canine companions enjoy dog-friendly aspects of the Lexus NX luxury crossover while sitting pretty in the lap of luxury.
With dog owners making up 48%* of U.S. households, it has become increasingly important for automobiles to become more and more pet friendly ... even in the luxury vehicle segment. More than 80%* of animal owners believe that their pet brings them more happiness and is beneficial to their health, and the new 2017 Lexus NX returns the favor by creating an environment that is comfortable not only for dogs, but for their humans as well.
Ease of Access
The five-passenger luxury crossover is not only sleek and stylish, but its low-to-the-ground ride height offers ease of ingress and egress for both small and large dogs. Illuminated door sills formed from heavy-gauge etched stainless steel are contoured to help protect against scuffs and scrapes, while a scratch-resistant clearcoat of paint also helps preserve the specially-engineered gloss exterior finish.
Configurable Seating
Four-legged friends will appreciate the spacious power-folding and -reclining rear seats of the NX which can easily be collapsed to create a larger amount of interior space or adjusted for individual preferences such as attaching a dog harness or dog seat. Lexus additionally offers a selection of plush and all-weather cargo mats and floor mats designed to protect carpeting from premature wear and soiling in order to keep the interior area looking new.
Cargo Space
An optional power rear door offers remote keyless access to the rear storage area which can easily accommodate portable dog crates when traveling. An auto-retracting tonneau cover comes standard with the vehicle, but a durable elastic-mesh net is also available for keeping dog supplies like balls, bones, food, and Frisbees upright and stable.
Comfortable Cabin
Providing creature comforts to an assortment of ... well, creatures, the Lexus NX features a uniquely-large available outer-sliding moonroof which provides an airy cabin and a more expansive sense of roominess. Climate controls also provide rear ventilation at the desired temperature so that dogs receive plenty of comfortably-heated or refreshingly-cooled air.
66%* of pet owners believe that their pet lowers their stress, and a well-crafted luxury vehicle should certainly do so as well. Starting at just $35,285 MSRP, the 2017 Lexus NX boasts a 28 highway mpg rating, delivers 235 horsepower, and achieves 0-60 in 7.2 seconds with the Turbo and Turbo F Sport models. So you and your pet can both get where you want to go ... lickety split.
