With 467 horsepower, 389 lb-feet of torque, and acceleration of 0 to 60 in a mere 4.5 seconds, it's no secret that the 2017 Lexus GS F is lightning fast off the mark. But holding to the concept that whatever goes up must come down, equal consideration is also given to pulling in the reins on this powerful beast when the time comes for returning to slower speeds. It is for this reason specifically that Lexus has outfitted the vehicle with a highly-responsive braking system which takes cues from a short, performance-oriented pedal stroke along with input from electronic power-assisted rack and pinion steering for optimal performance on and off the track.
The huge 14.9-inch Brembo brake rotors are clamped by lightweight yet massive six-piston aluminum monoblock calipers in the front while 13.5-inch rotors are clamped by four-piston calipers in the rear. And not only is the GS F designed with stylish brake duct openings in the front fascia which assist with cooling the engine and transmission oil, but the car also comes equipped with ventilated brake discs that feature a slotted rotor design and high-friction pads for reduced brake fade … you know, for effectively cooling down after all your high-speed hot lapping.
To demonstrate the speed, agility, and stopping power of both the Lexus GS F and RC F, Lexus has launched a video driving series hosted by Ralph Lauren Polo model Tyson Beckford with racing legend Scott Pruitt serving as an expert judge. The automotive competition pits celebrity drivers against one another in a number of head-to-head driving challenges including a slalom, top track speed, and a 0-60-0 challenge in which each driver must accelerate to at least 60 miles per hour before stopping hard within a designated marked area.
Bringing their top driving game (and their most-impressive swag) to the track are:
- TV star and champion driver Alfonso Ribeiro
- The first black female NASCAR and NHRA driver Nicole Lyons
- NBA legend and stock car racer John Salley
- Actor and car enthusiast Dondre Whitfield
