Promoting a sophisticated sense of inclusive luxury, the brand's powerful full-size SUV provides upscale ambience.
Go ahead, lean back.
Stretch out your legs.
The 2018 INFINITI QX80 has plenty of room to relax … and an exceptionally upscale ambience as well.
Receiving an extensive update for the current model year, the brand's powerful full-size SUV exudes a commanding attitude with its newly-redesigned exterior complemented by the enhanced features of its sophisticated interior.
The New 2018 QX80 commands a heightened flagship presence within the INFINITI portfolio,
said Randy Parker, vice president of INFINITI Americas. The updated model provides upscale luxury for all passengers, as well as a suite of advanced technologies that elevate confidence and control on any road.
Expressing a modern interpretation of INFINITI's Powerful Elegance
design language, the highly-contemporary interior of the new QX80 is one of the most luxurious, high-quality passenger compartments created by INFINITI to date. Drawing inspiration from the fashion sphere of high-end haute couture, designers have meticulously created a finely-tailored aesthetic using quality materials, natural finishes, and luxury craftsmanship.
Stepping inside, the cabin changes bring a greater sense of artistry in the treatment of quilted leathers and high-quality, hand-crafted elements, while also offering new technologies. The result is a contemporary, inclusive environment with roots in luxury air travel,
said Senior Vice President of Global Design Alfonso Albaisa.
The first eye-catching feature to notice is the harmonizing use of quilted leather upholstery with high-density padding, leather piping for an angular appeal, and contrast double-stitching on the soil-resistant seats, door panels, and cabin to create a refined interior environment. The contemporary look and feel is further executed with attention to detail through the installment of an updated leather-wrapped shift knob, wrapped upper instrument panel, and redesigned steering wheel. Denser floor carpets coupled with soundproofing materials have also been installed to isolate outside noise and create a quiet cabin at highway cruising speeds which results in a 5% improvement in the audibility of speech between vehicle occupants.
As well as a robust interior design, the spacious cabin of the QX80 also provides comfort and storage for seven or eight people. Improvements to ergonomics and the already-generous space create even more storage areas including a larger smartphone bin, reshaped twin cup holders, relocated USB port for easier access, and a huge storage console between the front seats. Front passengers are afforded legroom and headroom of up to 39.6 and 39.9 inches respectively, while legroom and headroom for second-row passengers stands at 41.0 and 40.0 inches, and third-row passengers get 28.8 and 36.8 inches leg and headroom. Ample cargo capacity is available when the third row is folded down thereby providing 49.6 cubic feet of space to store up to four large suitcases or four golf bags without impairing rear visibility from the driver's point of view.
Expanding the personalization of driving characteristics and cabin environment, the QX80 has undergone significant changes using signature design cues which bring it more closely into alignment with the most recent line of INFINITI vehicles. Supreme space is matched with advanced technologies to achieve high-end sophistication utilizing INFINITI's updated InTouch infotainment system with 8.0-inch touchscreen which can be utilized via smartphone controls, voice control, or physical buttons beneath the screen and on the steering wheel. Further reacting automatically to the presence of an available smart key, the system memorizes more than 200 comfort settings for two drivers including seat positions, navigation, audio, climate control, safety systems, and more.
The revised theater package and upgraded rear entertainment system now features larger and higher-resolution 16:9-ratio screens for increased compatibility with smartphones and gaming systems. Individual content may now be displayed on each of the two screens independently, and newly-added headphone jacks join the ongoing wireless headphone support to allow rear passengers to listen via wired headphones if desired. Front row occupants can use fingertip controls to select the system's audio sources, switch between inputs, play or pause content, or use the Mute All button to mute every audio source in the cabin entirely including headphones. A simple press of the Remote Control Lock function on the dashboard or steering wheel effectively locks the rear-seat remote control.
More practical than ever, the 2018 QX80 is closely attuned to customers' lifestyles and appeals to high-achieving luxury car buyers. The new model starts at an MSRP of $64,750 and is offered in 2WD and 4WD versions equipped with an advanced 400-horsepower 5.6-liter DOHC V8 engine.
