Journalist members of the Texas Auto Writers Association gathered at the Circuit of the Americas race track in Austin, Texas, to evaluate cars showcased by top automobile manufacturers such as FCA, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota, Lexus, and others. The annual two-day event, presented by Steel Market Development Institute (SMDI), gave automotive writers an opportunity to interact with industry representatives and participate in on-track test drives of 42 different vehicles in 11 separate categories in order to evaluate each on the basis of exterior, interior, performance, value, and overall appeal.
The group was additionally able to experience an onsite simulation of the newly-standard Toyota Safety Sense package and hear a panel discussion regarding the future impact of autonomous vehicles which featured Bill Kohler and Van Lindberg of Dykema along with Jay Propes of The Graydon Group. With a mission to promote quality and accuracy in automotive journalism and to disseminate information about the automotive industry,
