Travel is one of the very best ways to spend your time and money; however, if you're a seasoned traveler, you can find that even with something this exciting you can actually fall into a rut. If you find yourself going to the same kinds of places, doing the same sorts of things, and never pushing your boundaries, you'll never get the full experience of it. If you're looking to mix things up, here are five great ways to go about it.
Educational Travel
Travel is one of the best ways to expand your mind, and any kind of travel you embark on will allow you to learn new things. But going on a trip with the perspective of learning can be incredibly rewarding and eye opening. You could go on educational tours and visit religious buildings, museums, or galleries. Or you could study abroad; or if you're doing an online course from a school like Bradley University, you could take your study with you. If you're able to link your travel to what you're learning about in some way, then even better. You might find that being in new and exciting surroundings causes your mind can be more receptive to picking up new things and you can also recall them better later on too.
Pet-Friendly Travel
One of the only downsides to traveling is having to leave your dog behind. Putting them in kennels ensures they're safe, warm, and fed; but it's not a nice experience for them. Much better would be to bring them along with you! Of course, you won't be able to jet off to foreign countries due to practical and quarantine issues, but there's lots you can do in the country you live in. From hiring a pet-friendly barge to camping or staying in pet friendly hotels, there's actually lots of options. Many pubs and restaurants in tourist areas are dog friendly too; so as long as your pooch is well behaved, you're not limited in the things you can do. Having your dog with you might encourage you to explore off the beaten path a little more and go to places you might have overlooked if you'd been traveling without them.
Differing Perspective
Do your holidays always involve following a set routine? Maybe you always visit cities and spend your time walking around, or perhaps you book beach locations and spend much of your time lying around relaxing. Why not try something different? You could hire an RV or campervan and go on an epic road trip. You could go backpacking or on a boating holiday. Consider trying something you've never done before; even if it doesn't sound like your dream trip, you might surprise yourself and have an incredible time.
Volunteering Abroad
Volunteering abroad allows you to travel somewhere new and gain new experiences while genuinely doing good in the world. There are often schemes available where you get free accommodation and food in return for your time. You will of course get free time to explore and do other things, but the main focus will be on helping others. This form of travel can be a great way to meet new and interesting people.
Group Travel
The dynamics of group travel are much different to traveling with your close family or your partner. With so many of you, it can be challenging but also very fun and is a brilliant way to make memories together. You can all pitch in and rent a villa or other private house for your stay and you get access to upscale accommodations that you might not have had the chance to stay in any other way. Group travel takes a lot of planning and patience since there are lots of different people to try and keep happy. But done well, it will be something you all speak fondly about for years to come.
