4 Ideas for a Fun Outdoor Date

A good date venue is hard to find. Loud music, expensive food, and unpleasant lighting somehow permeate most restaurants, cafes, and bars. But there is one venue that doesn't come with prying eyes, booming music, or intense brightly colored lights (though you may need sunglasses). It might smell weird sometimes, and the locals can be a bit noisy; but you won't find a more private space. And the best thing is that there is no entry fee—it's completely free. Intrigued? The location we're talking about is, of course, the great outdoors.

Going for a hike might not sound like the most romantic activity you can do, but think about it for a moment. When you are walking, you can completely focus on talking to each other without the pressure of keeping up conversation all the time. You can take a quiet moment to focus on where your feet are going or simply sit and admire the view. If you don't fancy walking, horseback trekking is just as fun. Horses are inherently romantic; and since they encourage good posture, they'll make you look good too! There are lots of ranches that will take you on a trek; but if you are more experienced, it's perfectly possible to plan your own route. Just make sure that you don't accidentally stray off your path and onto someone else's land without permission.

It's a good idea to pack a picnic so that you can pause along the way. If you plan your route well, you should be able to find a particularly picturesque spot for peak romance. Remember to take a blanket to sit on—no matter what the weather is like—so that you don't end up with a damp bottom! You should also remember to bring cutlery and drinks as needed. Some of the best picnic foods are made for romance. Strawberries and champagne are brilliant for an anniversary picnic but might be a bit much for a first date. If you fancy Frenching things up, a simple but delicious loaf of bread and some brie could be ideal, particularly with a glass of red wine. But don't feel that you should limit yourself. The way to anyone's heart is via their stomach; so choose some favorites and, as long as you can still carry your bag, go to town!

Walking dates are becoming increasingly popular, not just because they are free but because they are also a healthy alternative. When you are doing a lot of dating, the bills and the pounds can quickly rack up. Walking dates are also great because they take the pressure off. You don't need to dress up, carry outdoor gear, or put on a show to try and fit in with your surroundings. So, if you fancy trying something different on your next day, maybe you should give a walking date a go.
