This nonprofit organization provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of the nation's heroes who have fallen or been disabled while serving in the United States Armed Forces or while working in the field of first responders including police, fire-fighters, EMTs, and paramedics. Folds of Honor was founded in 2007 by Lieutenant Colonel Dan Rooney, a PGA Member and F-16 fighter pilot, after he returned home from his second tour of duty in Iraq on a domestic flight during which the airline pilot announced they were carrying the remains of a fallen soldier and requested that passengers respectfully remain seated while the casket deboarded. Watching as the family of the deceased walked somberly alongside the flag-covered casket, and thus seeing the other side of the war through the eyes of the fallen soldier's child, this life-altering event led Rooney to make a decision to pay tribute to American service members and their families. The Folds of Honor mission endeavors to inspire unity among Americans and honor the sacrifice of the country's heroes while giving hope to the bearers of their legacy.

Unified by a patriotic love of country and devotion to its military and first responders, the North Texas Folds of Honor Gala brings together veterans, families, scholarship recipients, and community members with the goal of providing educational scholarships to some of the nation's most deserving families, the ones that sacrifice to protect our freedoms. Gala attendees have the opportunity to pledge support to the organization while enjoying a celebratory evening consisting of a cocktail reception, seated dinner, musical entertainment and dancing, as well as live and silent auctions.
