Current winner of the Texas Auto Writers Association's Best New Interior, the provocative 2019 Toyota Avalon is a looker. Receiving an all-around makeover for its fifth generation and echoing cues from high-dollar premium vehicles, the newest Avalon no doubt exhibits a chic essence of authenticity and exhilaration as intended.
Merely open the door and you'll likely become instantly smitten with the high-caliber welcome of soft-touch materials, satin chrome-finish accents, and advanced amenities. Impressive craftsmanship is brilliantly showcased via the stitched door panels, uniquely-perforated patterned seats, and 'floating' center stack with large instrument panel. The 9-inch touch-screen multimedia display houses audio and navigation options and seamlessly integrates the automotive climate control system. Underneath, an e-Bin contains a 12-volt plug and wireless Qi mobile device charger.
Four trim levels, underpinned by the TNGA platform, include the athletic XSE and Touring, as well as the more opulent XLE and Limited.* The XLE gets engineered wood for an accent treatment, the Limited model features real wood, and you'll find aluminum pieces in the cabins of the Touring grade and the XSE. Perforated ultrasuede covers seats in the Touring and XSE, while XLE receives Softex seats with artistic vertical stitching. Want even more? Limited additionally offers a creative quilt pattern, special perforation, and beautiful two-color stitchwork.
The three-spoke steering wheel now has a trimmed inner physique, enlarged hand grips, and accessible cruise control on the right spoke. Immediately adjacent, a 7-inch multi-information display (MID) shows vehicle settings, and the tachometer with long bright white needles reveals an updated typeface. The standard color 10-inch head-up display of Limited and Touring is the biggest in the segment and clearly projects information like speed, turn-by-turn directions, audio settings, and more onto the windshield to help drivers stay focused.
Back seat occupants are carefully considered as well with an elegant armrest between passengers, controls for available seat warmers, and USB charging ports. Avalon also features rear-seat roominess through segment-best measurements in the categories of shoulder room, leg space, and headroom.
Powered by a fuel-efficient 3.5-liter V6 or Toyota Hybrid System (THS II) powertrain, the 2019 Toyota Avalon produces up to 301 horsepower and achieves up to 22 mpg in the city or 32 mpg on the highway. Avalon also offers Toyota-firsts such as standard Apple CarPlay and Dynamic Auxiliary Turn Signals, and Engine Sound Enhancement as well as standard safety benefits of Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P).
The 2019 Toyota Avalon begins at an MSRP of $35,500.
