Toyota has equipped all 2017 RAV4s with a comprehensive safety package that comes standard on each model including the LE, XLE, SE, Limited, and new Platinum trim levels.
The cost of personal security isn't cheap, of course ... ask any parent, policeman, or member of the armed forces. And this year, Toyota is offering protection for consumers by equipping all 2017 RAV4s with a comprehensive safety package that comes standard on each LE, XLE, SE, Limited, and new Platinum trim levels.
The Toyota Safety Sense™ P suite of features includes:
Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
The forward-monitoring pre-collision system combines millimeter-wave radar with a shape-recognizing camera to detect vehicles or pedestrians and also offers automatic braking whenever necessary.
Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
Lane departure warnings alert driver to take corrective action when drifting outside the lane, and the steering assist feature gently helps guide the vehicle back into a proper position on the road.
Automatic High Beams
Automatic high beams use a camera to help detect oncoming vehicles and thereby keep occupants safer by enhancing visibility during nighttime driving.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
Adaptive cruise control uses forward-sensing radar technology to assist the driver by automatically adjusting the vehicle speed to maintain a preset distance from the car just ahead.
This quite-roomy compact crossover SUV received the NHTSA 5-Star Overall Safety Rating and is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ (when equipped with LED headlights). In addition to eight standard airbags and the RAV4's standard backup camera with 6.1-inch touch-screen display, the available Bird's Eye View camera with innovative perimeter scan displays live 360-degree views of your surroundings when the vehicle is parked.
The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine (176 horsepower and 172 lb.-ft. of torque) is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission which achieves a 22/29 mpg fuel economy, and buyers can expect this year's model to start at $24,910 MSRP. So, with only a marginal overall price increase for the newest version of the RAV4, you can rest assured that Toyota has the security of your family – as well your pocketbook – in mind.
