Review: 2022 RAM 2500 Lone Star Edition

This full-size truck offers technology, performance, and convenience with features never before offered in a pickup.

In the arts community, the term triple threat is used to describe an actor or actress that is an especially talented individual because they can sing, dance, and act. I feel this is a perfect way to describe the Ram 2500 Lone Star Edition 4x4 powered by a Cummins turbo diesel. After driving it for a few days, I quickly realized this truck was a one-person Broadway show because of its ability to excel in the three most important vehicle demographics: commercial use, recreational fun, and weekly family duties.

If you work in the commercial space and tow and haul heavy equipment six days a week, this might be one of the most important tools you will ever buy. If you are a weekend adventurer who tows the largest 5th wheel camping trailer built deep into the mountains, or you are a weekend racer who hauls a race car trailer to the track each week, you can eliminate your monthly toter payments. The RAM will also handle the daily commuter grind, the family shuttle duties of an active family, and your weekend date night parking options because it easily maneuvers around like a RAM 1500. Also, to help make the in-town drive more convenient, the 2500 has the traditional large trailer mirrors plus added as an insert to those mirrors is probably one of the largest blind spot mirrors I've seen. That oversized blind spot mirror makes changing lanes in town worry and stress-free.

I really like the styling mix of this Lone Star edition. The exterior granite crystal metallic clear-coat paint says 'I'm refined and suburban and look good being valet at the symphony' while the chrome rims, chrome accents on the running boards, and chrome front grill with the RAM logo prominently displayed says 'this Lonestar edition fits right in at the Sonic Drive In or a Friday night high school football game.' The interior of the Lone Star is designed with materials that allow the truck to be used for commercial applications or rugged off-grid adventures and then can easily be cleaned up for date night at some high dollar restaurant. The center console is large enough to store just about anything you would need for your 4,000-acre ranch or hunting excursion.
