In an exciting collaboration that's set to redefine off-road dominance, the iconic Bronco and Raptor, are merging their strengths promising off-road enthusiasts a purpose-built vehicle like no other Ford. As the newest addition to the Bronco brand, the Bronco Raptor stakes its claim as the most powerful street-legal Bronco ever built. It stands proudly as the world's inaugural Ultra4 Racing-inspired SUV, an embodiment of Ford Performance's unwavering dedication to the hardcore off-road community.
We had to build the Bronco Raptor—it's our ultimate vehicle for hardcore off-road enthusiasts who demand something more. Like the Ultra4 desert race trucks, the 'Raptor of SUVs' conquers desert dunes at highway speeds and is equipped with competition-level off-road technology and hardware.

Chassis Upgrade
This all-new Bronco Raptor offers many firsts compared to its Bronco siblings as it consistently turned heads no matter where I drove it. The first thing people noticed and commented on was the Raptor's expanded footprint. It is an impressive 85.7 inches. This footprint is so extraordinary, there are additional government-mandated lighting requirements added to male it street legal. This Raptor also has a ground clearance of 13.1 inches which is 4.8 inches higher than most Broncos. The heart of these enhanced width and height totals is a chassis upgrade which sets the foundation for all the high-speed desert adventures. The fully boxed, high-strength steel frame is complemented by innovative shock towers intentionally designed for more wheel travel allowing more stability during those high-speed off-grid drives.
There is also a change to the upper body of the Raptor as it gets more structural strength in the form of a B-pillar crossbar and C-pillar reinforcement, boasting a remarkable 50% increase in overall body torsional rigidity compared to a standard Bronco four-door model. Finally, there are larger front and rear driveshafts for greater wheel torque improving performance and reliability in demanding sand dunes. All these new modifications work in concert to provide a driver with unparalleled handling and stability during those adrenaline-pumping desert sprints.
The standard Bronco suspension was upgraded as well through collaboration with The Ford Performance and FOX teams. The all-new 4.0 High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) system with Live Valve technology is a cutting-edge system equipped with suspension height and ride sensors positioned at each corner of the vehicle continually analyzing the terrain conditions at a rapid rate of hundreds of times per second. As a result, the suspension settings are dynamically adjusted to ensure optimal performance on any terrain. Complementing this technology, the upgraded front and rear control arms play a pivotal role in achieving an impressive wheel travel of 13.0 inches at the front and 14.0 inches at the rear. These measurements signify a substantial increase of 60% and 40% in comparison to other Bronco models.
Powertrain
To enhance the desert-running adventure, the Raptor will be powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine that has been tuned to Ford Performance standards. This twin-turbo will deliver 418 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. It also has a sophisticated cooling system upgrade that enables the Bronco Raptor to excel in even the most scorching desert conditions. The Ecoboost will be paired with a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission and a higher-capacity clutch that is designed to withstand the demands of high-performance desert events. The advanced 4x4 system will also offer three distinct driving modes depending on the current ground conditions. As the most badass Bronco yet, the Bronco Raptor design is extreme. It's muscular while maintaining an underlying simplicity with performance-focused details added only for outstanding high-speed capability.

Styling
At the forefront of the head-turning Bronco Raptor look are the largest tires on any production SUV in America. The BFGoodrich 37-inch KO2 all-terrain tires (37x12.50R17LT) are not just impressive to look at, but the tire's Serrated Shoulder Design provides increased mud, snow, and rock traction, especially in aired-down driving situations. Also for aired-down conditions, the sidewall strength is 20% stronger than other off-road tires.
The week I had the Raptor, there was an ice storm that rolled into the North Texas area. I was out taking full advantage of the conditions getting pictures of the Raptor in the extreme conditions. And because it is Texas, by the weekend the ice was gone and we drove around the area getting pictures with the top and doors off. I really liked the styling of this new Bronco inside and out with its Raptor-family signature cues and the 'Built Wild' innovative design. The Velocity Blue Metallic exterior paint job with the Raptor graphics and Bronco badging really made a bold statement. Even when the doors are removed it still looks like a Bronco on steroids. The big Ford block lettering stretched across the signature two-piece rectangular grille anchoring to the heavy-duty modular steel front bumper. This look in conjunction with the extra wide footprint makes this vehicle look like it's able to take on or do anything it's asked.
If you are looking to add some serious fun to your four-season outdoor life, you might look at this Bronco. It also allows you to tow snowmobiles, quad runners, side-by-sides, campers, and boats with a tow rating of 4,500 lbs. There really is not much this Bronco can't do when it comes to outside the box weekend fun.
