The Chevrolet Bolt EUV crossover is the cousin to the subcompact EV Bolt hatchback with which it shares its platform. This second-generation electric utility vehicle (EUV) was originally revealed to the public in February of 2021 with three trim options: LT, Premier, and Launch Edition. But for 2023, Chevrolet will make available an all-new sporty Redline trim option that is specifically designed to make the Bolt EUV crossover look similar to Chevrolet's other stable of gas powered SUVs.
EUV Crossover vs. EV Hatchback
The second generation EUV crossover was a ground-up build just like the hatchback was in 2016. The only thing the two electric vehicles have in common is that they share the same architectural platform they sit on, which is a very common practice with many of today's automakers. The exterior design of the Bolt crossover does not allow for any exterior sheet metal parts to be shared with the Bolt hatchback. The engineers designed the crossovers exterior style in such a way to reflect a muscular aggressive design that looks like it is moving while still parked. It has a sculpted grille and signature lighting that gives the crossovers front end a distinct look. Also, the front clip has Chevrolet's brand-specific, high-eye daytime running lamps which double as sequential turn-signal indicators, and standard roof rails add to the SUV aesthetic. The biggest differences between the crossover and the hatchback is that the crossover body length is 6.2 inches longer which provides a larger cabin interior and additional three inches of rear legroom space while maintaining a good size cargo area. The design engineers also redesigned the traditional center console gear shift concept by installing a new electronic gear shift design that utilizes pull toggles and push buttons. This new design concept gives the area between the front seats a sleek, polished look while adding more functional space. The EUV crossover also has heated and ventilated front seats along with a panoramic power sunroof that makes the sporty SUV feel even bigger.
The new Bolt EUV is the best of the Bolt EV packaged in an SUV-like vehicle with more technology and features, giving customers more choices and reasons to switch to electriC. This is an opportunity for Chevrolet to capitalize on the success we've built with the Bolt EV and bring new customers into the Chevrolet family.

Redlines Style Notes
The Redline look is a style option that can be applied to either the LT trim level or the tricked-out Premier trim level. The Redline exterior accents make a bold statement that sets the crossover apart from the other Chevrolet crossovers in the EUV fleet. The new bold look starts with 17-inch gloss-black spoke aluminum wheels that have a red sport stripe accent. There is a black and red Bolt EUV badge on the rear hatch and a red sport stripe decal on both exterior mirror caps. The interior styling mirrors the bold exterior look perfectly with a jet black dash trimmed with high gloss black lacquer pieces. Jet black leather seats trimmed with red accent stitching match the red exterior stripes, and polished silver accents on the door handles and center console balance all the black pieces nicely.
Crossover Power
The EUV crossover has a front axle-mounted electric motor that receives energy from a 65 kWh lithium-ion battery that is rated to produce 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Since the EUV crossover is a half-foot longer than the EV hatchback, there will be a slight drop in the drive range from 259 miles for the hatchback to 247 miles for the crossover.
For the short time I drove the crossover, I was very pleased with the overall comfort and feel of this new Bolt EUV crossover. I'm 6'2”, so the extra half-foot of body length provided me with more than enough leg space. As for the bold sporty styling of the Redline package, I think it was well done with great balance of badging, colors, and interior materials. If you are looking for an electric crossover vehicle that looks like a normal sporty SUV in any grocery store parking lot, I would suggest giving the Chevrolet EUV/SUV Redline a test drive.
