Sportback combines sleek design, powerful performance, and lavish interiors, setting a new luxury standard.
The new Audi SQ5 Sportback is a sleek coupe-style designed crossover that redefines luxury and performance in crossovers. With an impressive performance package and a rich array of standard features, it stands out as a top choice for those buyers who are looking for more than your everyday grocery-getter compact crossover.
Powertrain
The SQ5 Sportback powertrain produces a lively and refined performance with plenty of low-end torque and high-end power through its turbocharged 3.0-liter gas V6 that generates an impressive 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. It moves all that power to the road through the quattro all-wheel drive and Tiptronic eight-speed automatic transmission. The AWD Sportback is able to easily achieve a top speed electronically limited at 155 mph with a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.7 seconds. But wait there is more, the SQ5 has an EPA-rated efficiency of 19 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway which is really good numbers for a 349 hp AWD powerhouse. The Sportback model ensures swift power delivery and minimal lag, enhancing overall responsiveness and a really cool throaty exhaust note.
Interior
The Sportback's interior masterfully blends the fastback-like performance with a dynamic sporting atmosphere that is heightened by the Magma Red interior featuring Nappa Leather heated sport seats that are adorned with a distinctive diamond-stitched pattern that adds a nice rich touch. The front dash and door panels are dark gray and accented by dark carbon atlas inlays with a subtle white dot design that creates a striking contrast against the dominant red and gray hues. Embracing its sporty demeanor, the sport steering wheel and gear shifter proudly display S badging, while high polish chrome pedals round out the sporty aesthetic.
A highlight for me within the cabin is the remarkable digital 7-inch driver display and the 10.1-inch touchscreen. The visual clarity and sharpness of both screens are so remarkable that they rival high-definition TV displays. Every place I looked for information it felt like it was in high definition. Audiophiles are in for a treat with the SQ5's Bang & Olufsen 19-speaker sound system, delivering a chest-thumping 755 watts of power. This sound system promises an unparalleled auditory journey, transforming every drive into a genuinely pleasurable experience.
Exterior
The SQ5 Sportback, a bold departure from the regular Q5, commands attention with its distinctive features. Its sleek profile, characterized by an angled C-pillar and a gracefully sloping roofline, along with a lowered ride height, exudes a sense of athleticism. Enhancing its allure, the SQ5 is adorned with a striking Florett Silver Metallic paint that accentuates its overall aesthetic. Signature S design elements further set it apart, including a unique single-frame grille, prominent SQ5 badging, and reimagined bumper designs boasting larger air intakes for an aggressive demeanor. The SQ5 Sportback rides on exclusive Black Optic 21-inch 5-twin-spoke turbine wheels finished in titanium, while red brake calipers add a touch of sportiness. Matrix-design LED headlights with washers and OLED tail lights complete the package, underscoring the SQ5's distinct design prowess.
I'm not trying to slight other crossover SUVs in the market, but highlight the unique qualities of this Audi SQ5. It is challenging to categorize because it combines a the perfect amount of seating and cargo capacity for a crossover and the look, performance and agility of a euro sports car making it an ideal choice for those seeking the best of both worlds.I found the Audi's braking performance is exceptional, with the ability of a hard stop like a dart hitting a bullseye and when comes to cornering, the SQ5's tight and responsive steering and lower profile allow it to effortlessly corner like a euro sports car on a rail. If you are in the mood for a fun sporty luxury SUV, visit a dealer and ask for the one I drove.
