Fashion Group International of Dallas (FGI Dallas) will host their annual Night of Stars on November 10, 2017 at the Hall of State at Fair Park. As in previous years, the glamorous event will honor individuals and businesses for their contribution to fashion and related industries with Career Achievement and Lifetime Achievement Awards.

THIS YEAR'S HONOREES INCLUDE:

Lifetime Achievement Award
Angela Missoni
Art Patrons of the Year
Joyce Goss & Kenny Goss
Career Achievement in Business
Nasiba Adilova
Career Achievement in Education
Marilyn Sullivan
Career Achievement in Design
Michael Aram

Angela Missoni, who is being honored for her work in fashion, is heir to one of the most famous fashion brands in the world and has emerged as a successful designer in her own right.? She is the third child of Tai and Rosita Missoni, the co-founders of the Italian brand famous for its kaleidoscope and zigzag knits.? Angela began assisting her mother in the conception and creation of the women’s collections at the age of eighteen. This gave her the chance to express her innate feel for fashion, and to acquire her own views on the subject of clothing design. The hands-on experience also made for an invaluable way to learn all the steps in the process, from initial sketch to actual sale of the clothes.

Then, from the early to mid-eighties, Angela took an extended break from the business, during which time she married Marco Maccapani, producer/director of fashion shows and other events. She also became the mother of three children: Margherita (1983), Francesco (1985) and Teresa (1988).? When she returned to the company, she began both designing a collection under her own name and working in tandem with Rosita, devoting serious attention to the main line. This set in motion a progressive restyling of the Missoni fashion vision for women.

Today Angela is co-owner of Missoni S.p.A., along with her brother Luca.? Beyond her role as creative director of the women’s collection, she assumes sole responsibility for the company’s style, including the men’s collection and licences.? Angela is also totally committed to infusing the family brand with new energy.? Thus she proved a major force in renewing the store concept and in giving the ad campaigns ? shot by various world-class photographers ? a most contemporary slant. In just a few years, Missoni fashion has taken on a fresh new identity.? As for the Missoni shows, they again mark important and popular occasions and make an authoritative, international statement in the communication of trends and ideas.

Art Patrons of the Year, Kenny Goss and sister-in-law Joyce Goss, have reinvigorated the Dallas art world through their work at the Goss-Michael Foundation.?

Kenny Goss is a Dallas-based entrepreneur and businessman, well known as the co-founder, along with his former partner music icon George Michael, of The Goss-Michael Foundation.? The Foundation is internationally renowned for its Goss-Michael Collection of important contemporary and modern British art.? He is also passionate about human rights, issues including addiction, gender issues, as well as women and children’s rights.

Joyce Goss is the Executive Director of The Goss-Michael Foundation. She is a leading philanthropist and activist in the art world and has also served in executive positions, as a board member and chair of key events for The Family Place, MTV RE:DEFINE, U.S. Fund for UNICEF,? Dallas Women’s Foundation, The Nasher Sculpture Center, Planned Parenthood of North Texas and The Dallas Contemporary, among others.

Nasiba Adilova is Co-Founder of The Tot, a premier online destination and storefront for eco-conscious mamas and their children. As a mother of two, Adilova set out to build an online luxury destination that promoted safe, clean, health conscious yet chic products. Created in 2016, The Tot is a one-stop-shop for women everywhere seeking not only the best and safest brands for children, but also a place to connect with industry experts and other parents.

At the age of 16, Adilova enrolled in undergrad followed by earning her master’s degree and working as a grant writer helping immigrants move to America. Prior to co-founding The Tot, she was the Director of Business Development at Buro 24/7.

Adilova currently serves as a board member of United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).? Her passion for business, entrepreneurial drive and eye for innovative companies has allowed her to invest in a number of the biggest names in style, such as Reformation, Bandier, Violet Grey and Reward Style. Her accomplishments and expertise have earned her recognition in Vogue, ELLE, Harper’s BAZAAR, Business of Fashion, Glossy, Dallas Morning News, and more.

Adilova currently resides in Dallas, Texas with her husband and two children.

Marilyn Sullivan is the Fashion Marketing Program Coordinator in the Business, Design, and Public Service Division of El Centro College.? Marilyn moved to Dallas in 1973 where she began her teaching career at Miss Wade’s Fashion Merchandising College, now known as Wade College. Following her time at Wade College, Marilyn accepted a buying position with the then Sanger-Harris Department Stores. In 1979, she was asked to develop the curriculum for a Retail Distribution and Marketing Program at Brookhaven College, where she remained until 2005, serving as a faculty member and then the program coordinator when the curriculum was changed to Fashion Marketing. In 2005 the Fashion Marketing Program and Marilyn were moved to El Centro College to collaborate with the long-standing Fashion Design Program.? Marilyn has been honored as the Minnie Stevens Piper Professor of the Year at Brookhaven College (1986) and El Centro College (2012). She was also given the “Spirit of El Centro College” award in 2010.? She is a graduate of Kansas State University, and has been married to her husband, Terry, for 44 years.

Michael Aram is an American born artist who works primarily in metal. After studying fine art and living as an artist in New York in the late 1980's, Aram took what would later be a life-altering trip to India where he discovered rich metalworking traditions. Inspired to work with craftsmen whose skills he felt were greatly untapped, Aram turned his creative energies towards craft based design, setting up a home and workshop in New Delhi.?Aram's work reflects humanity through the directness of the handmade process, as each piece is lovingly made using age old traditional techniques. The artisan nature of the work imbues it with a soulful quality and an energy, which Aram feels is only possible with work, which reflects the hand of the maker.?Bridging the gap between the artist and artisan is a hallmark of Michael Aram's work.

Recently, FGI of Dallas presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Jerry Hall, Linda Gray, Kay Unger, and Morgan Fairchild. Past Career Achievement in Fashion honorees include Monique Lhuillier, Zac Posen, Billy Reid, and Prabal Gurung. Past Art Patron of the Year honorees include Lynn McBee, Nancy C. This year, the Night of Stars Gala co-chairs are Britt Harless and Heidi Dillon.? Honorary chair is Chuck Steelman, and Ken Weber is regional director. This year’s Night of Stars will include a reception, live auction, and fashion presentation of the Spring 2018 Missoni collection.
