Black Fret Announces 20 Black Fret Artists for 2021 Season

Austin nonprofit Black Fret is proud to announce its 2021 Black Fret Artists: American Dreamer, Clarence James, Darkbird, Deezie Brown, Eimaral Sol, Guy and Jeska Forsyth, Harry Edohoukwa, Jake Lloyd, James Robinson, Jon Muq, Jonathan Terrell, Lisa Morales, Motenko, Nané, Pat Byrne, PR Newman, Primo the Alien, Sam Houston and Blk Odyssy, The Reverent Few and Zach Person.

Launching our eighth season of awarding grants to Austin area artists with a full compliment of 20 bands feels great after coming through the COVID-19 pandemic, said Matt Ott, Executive Director of Black Fret Austin. Like everyone, we took a real blow in the pandemic but remain committed to supporting our musicians when they need it most. We felt it was important to honor twenty artists, just as we have every year, to show our music scene how much the community values and cares about them.

Black Fret announced the 2021 Nominees on June 11 to over 400 music supporters at an event at ACL Live at the Moody Theater. The event featured performances from 2021 Black Fret Artists James Robinson and The Reverent Few with a very special acoustic appearance from multi-platinum artist Blue October.

It has never been a better time to join Black Fret,; said Kevin Hayden, Black Fret's Director of Member Acquisition. We have an amazing season planned for everyone. But if we are going to make sure we can award a full complement of grants to our artists it is more important than ever for those who love their city and its music to join us and become a member of Black Fret right now.

Those interested in joining Black Fret may do so at blackfret.org/join. Member dues are $750 per person for a full year of immersion in our local music scene.
