The DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth Exhibits New-Model Vehicles

New cars and trucks from top automobile makers are on display this weekend at the Fort Worth Convention Center.

If you are looking for something to do this cold weekend besides shopping, swing by the warm Fort Worth Convention Center and take a look at all the new cars for next year. The DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth opens Thursday and runs through Sunday. There is a buzz about this year's show because of the number of high-profile vehicles with major updates that are being displayed this year as well as a number of new cars that haven't been released to dealers yet.

You can start with the all-new Ford F150 which was recently announced as the Texas Auto Writers Association of Texas (TAWA) 2018 Truck of Texas. As you walk around the Ford truck display area, you will see a number F150s in the different truck packages that are highlighting all the new updates to the line.

The all-new, next-generation 2018 Jeep Wrangler will be at this show this weekend. The LA Auto Show was the first to debut it, and it now makes its first visit to the Lone Star State. It's been a decade since the last major update for the Jeep, but purists need not to worry because the engineers have given it a modern, updated look while staying true to the original look. There is sure to be a crowd around this vehicle as they will recognize the keystone-shaped grille, iconic round headlamps, improved lines for better aerodynamics, and a fold-down windshield for off-road purists.

If you were wondering if RAM was going to bring the new 3500 4x4 turbo diesel that was debuted at the State Fair of Texas in September, you will be happy to know it is in the house. In case you didn't see it at the Fair, this new RAM has the 6.7-liter Cummins turbo diesel which creates a class-leading 930 pound-feet of torque. You will also get a chance to see the new 5th wheel hitch assembly that was developed by RAM engineers to now give RAM owners 30,000 pounds of best-in-class towing capability. This hitch is a game changer because you will no longer need to buy a class 4 or 5 truck for the larger high-end 5th wheel RVs or loaded race trailers.

For sedan and sports car enthusiasts, there is something new for you too. Lexus brought the LC 500 coup that has been on dealer lots for only a short time as well as the all-new LS 500 sedan. These two vehicles are a new line for Lexus and should not be missed. By the way, be sure to ask the Lexus representative to show you the cut glass inlay on the interior doors that was created by a team of skilled artisan glass workers.

Making his first visit to the DFW Auto Show will be Turbo, Kia's newest addition to the hamster family. Turbo will be there to introduce to you the latest addition to the Kia family, the all-new KIA Soul Turbo. The Soul Turbo is a 1.6-liter Inline 4 engine that is turbocharged to produce 201 horsepower; and with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, it will surely have the peppiness of a hamster running on a wheel. Kia will also reveal to the public this weekend the most highly-anticipated vehicle in Kia's history, the Kia Stringer. It has been a long journey from concept car to reality, but the Kia engineers have developed the highest performance vehicle Kia has ever delivered. The vehicle was developed at the Nurburgring motorsports complex in Germany. Stinger is a dream car and as we usher in a new era for the Kia brand we are doing something different to show people just how far Kia has come with a true gran turismo that has a faster top speed and zero to 60 time than a Poorsche Panamera, said Saad Chehab, vice president, marketing communications, KMA.

For those of you who are interested in seeing an electric car that is said to be a disrupter to an industry that has barely got it's legs under itself and able to stand, then you will want to head to a booth that is located at the back of the auto show. You are looking for the booth that is ironically located in front of the Classic Car Corral exhibit area. When you find three sleek, speedy, and almost silent cars, you have found the Karma Revero dealer booth. The Karma Revero is a hybrid electric luxury super car that is based on the platform originally designed by former board director of Aston Martin and famed designer Henrik Fisker. If you know his name, it may be because he designed the Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage, Artega GT, and BMW Z8. Quick hits about the Revero: It achieves 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds in Sport mode, employes solar panels on the roof to charge the car's 12V battery and also charges the HV battery adding to the electric range, the battery range is up to 50 miles and the gas-powered generator extends the total range to approximately 300 miles, the self-leveling rear suspension is similar to the system found on McLaren super cars, the frame is aluminum with a total weight fueled is 5,400 pounds, the plug-in system recharges to 80% full in 24 minutes at DC fast-charging station, and the vehicle is outfitted with six-piston Brembo calipers in the front and four-piston calipers in the rear for stopping car.

The DFW Auto Show in Fort Worth runs through Sunday, December 10, 2017 with tickets priced at $11.00. You may also follow the event on Facebook and Instagram or with the hashtag #DFWAutoShow.
